Englewood, N.J. Palisades
Interstate Park. Take Route 9W or the Palisades Interstate Parkway to Exit One, Palisades
Avenue, in Englewood. Take Palisades Avenue east till your hat floats and
youre there. Parking is $4.00. The park is open from sun up to sun down. Stripers,
Bluefish, Catfish, perch, Tommy cod, and Eels. Dont throw away those eels! Keep them
on the hook. Stripers love eels!! North end of park has a small beach and fishing pier. |
Fishing right in front of your car
is handy for those colder days. This is also an excellent area for the physically
challenged to enjoy the sport of fishing.
Many HRFA members like the northern most spot of
the southern parking lot. (Next to the fence, by the marina.) Coin operated bait machines
are available at the south end of the parking lot. Entire length of shoreline trail is
open for fishing. Bring the kids!
Open all year but they charge for parking from April to
November. School sized striped bass (14 - 20 inches) can be caught here all year long.
Catfish start showing up in early spring with white perch and Tommy cod. Stripers for the
spring spawning run start showing up in good numbers in mid April. |
 |
The fall of 2001 had many big stripers landed
form this location. In October of 2001 I had personally seen a 42 inch striped bass
brought in off the north corner of the southern parking lot. The fish was caught on
a half of a sandworm. |
The north end of park has a small beach and fishing pier,
with good access to deeper water. The trails along the entire park are open for
exploring. |
This is a great place for the family to have a picnic
while you fish.
