| Exit 14B Jersey City. Make right on Caven Point Road and a left on Chapel Ave. Was probably the best shoreline fishing spot on the river. The pier, built in 1945 extends 4200 feet out into the Hudson. Is still on most charts you’ll see of the river. Closed in the late 80’s due to deterioration of the pier. Everything from stripers to albacore have been reported caught off this pier in the past. Future repairs and opening is doubtful. Fishing is still available around the bulkhead by the ferry slips. Parking in the area is free but tough to come by. |
